Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) trashed his congressional colleague, Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), for challenging President Joe Biden.
Garcia said he is looking forward to when Phillips has to drop out of the presidential race, making the comment in reaction to a clip of the Minnesota Democrat warning that Biden will lose to former President Donald Trump if he is the Democratic nominee in November.
I’m looking forward to Dean getting beat tonight and dropping out soon. His disrespect for the President and the leader of our party is such a reversal from the man I met during my freshman orientation. Hate to see it. https://t.co/SkvbPfc7jL

“I’m looking forward to Dean getting beat tonight and dropping out soon. His disrespect for the President and the leader of our party is such a reversal from the man I met during my freshman orientation. Hate to see it,” Garcia said in a post on X.
In the clip, Phillips warned that “Joe Biden is going to get creamed” by Trump. He also remarked that he talked with people waiting to enter a Trump rally and noted that many of them had supported Democrats in past elections.
Garcia, an adamant supporter of Biden, has bashed Phillips in the past for his comments on Vice President Kamala Harris. Phillips said in an interview with the Atlantic in November that he believed voters did not have faith in Harris, pointing to her poll numbers. He did note that he had only positive experiences with the vice president.
The Minnesota Democrat recalled his interactions with the Trump supporters from the weekend again on CNN This Morning on Tuesday, saying that his party is “completely delusional right now” when it comes to the state of the presidential race.

“I met probably 50 Trump people waiting in line, every single one of them thoughtful, hospitable, friendly, all of them so frustrated that they feel nobody’s listening to them but Donald Trump. A diverse crowd, people who had never been to a Trump event before,” Phillips said. “My party is completely delusional right now.”
Phillips is running a long-shot challenge against Biden. New Hampshire’s Democratic primary on Tuesday is Phillips’s best shot at competing with the president in a primary contest, as Biden is not on the ballot in the Granite State.
