Former President Donald Trump blasted United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain as a “Weapon of Mass Destruction on Auto Workers and the Automobile Manufacturing Industry” after the UAW endorsed President Joe Biden.
Trump’s campaign had attempted to court Fain for some time before last week’s announcement. Not only did Fain give the UAW’s endorsement to Biden, but in his speech, he condemned Trump as a “scab.” Trump responded in a Monday Truth Social post using equally strong terms.
“Shawn Fain is a Weapon of Mass Destruction on Auto Workers and the Automobile Manufacturing Industry in the United States!” he declared. “Is he under contract to China, because they will be getting almost all of our ‘Car making’ Business within a very short period of time. All Autoworkers should VOTE FOR TRUMP.”
In his speech last week, Fain portrayed Biden’s work for auto workers as stellar despite his initial hesitance to endorse him. And he was harsh on Trump, who he accused of fighting against workers.
“Donald Trump is a scab. Donald Trump is a billionaire, and that’s who he represents,” Fain said. “This choice is clear. Joe Biden bet on the American worker, while Donald Trump blamed the American worker. We need to know who’s going to sit in the most powerful seat in the world and help us win as a united working class. So, if our endorsements must be earned, Joe Biden has earned it.”

Trump’s primary angle in trying to win over the UAW was pointing to the negative effects of Biden’s environmental and globalist policies, which he said negatively affected workers.
“Crooked Joe backed every single bloodsucking globalist for half a century — and now he’s coming back for more,” Trump’s campaign shared on social media Wednesday. “But we will stop him.”
