Tesla CEO Elon Musk joked about President Joe Biden’s latest mishap on the microphone, comparing the error to a scene from the film Anchorman.
Biden was speaking at a White House event Friday when he accidentally read instructions off of the teleprompter, saying, “End of quote. Repeat the line.” Musk compared the error to the scene from Anchorman in which Will Ferrell’s character, Ron Burgundy, similarly reads instructions off a teleprompter, leading to one of the producers on set to warn that “anything you put on that prompter, Burgundy will read,” as seen in a meme he posted to social media.
“Whoever controls the teleprompter is the real President!” Musk wrote in his social media post.

Musk’s joke about the president came on the same day he told Twitter that he was terminating his deal to acquire the social media platform. In documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday evening, Musk accused Twitter of misrepresenting the number of spam bots on its platform.
The termination of the deal will cost the multibillionaire $1 billion through a reverse termination fee, which Musk will have to pay in order to exit the deal.

Before the announcement, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal had become increasingly frustrated with Musk and was “being more aggressive internally,” according to a former Twitter executive, adding that it seemed the company was “willing to go to war to make this deal happen.”
