President Joe Biden released a video on Super Bowl Sunday targeting companies for practicing “shrinkflation.”

Biden’s video, released on social media, featured the president discussing the frustrations consumers have had when buying Super Bowl snacks over the years and noticing how they are paying the same price but getting smaller items. The release of the video comes as many voters have voiced frustration over Biden’s handling of the economy as president, which could affect his reelection bid this November.

“As an ice cream lover, what makes me the most angry is that ice cream cartons have actually shrunk in size, but not in price,” Biden said. “I’ve had enough of what they call shrinkflation. It’s a ripoff.”

Last year, the president’s administration introduced the term “Bidenomics” to showcase how the president was working to make the cost of living more affordable for United States residents. However, the term has not fully clicked with voters, as a recent poll showed that only 35% of 1,152 respondents said they believed the economy was doing well. While the number is up from 24% a year ago, Biden’s approval has only been around 40% for the last year.

Other polling numbers also signal trouble for Biden, as a majority of respondents in a recent survey stated that former President Donald Trump would handle the economy better than Biden, with Trump having a 22% lead. The former president has not yet secured the Republican Party’s 2024 nomination but has won the primary contests so far.

The release of Biden’s Super Bowl-themed video comes after the president opted not to do an interview for the big game, making it the second consecutive year he has decided not to do one. White House press secretary Karine Jean Pierre explained that the president would not do an interview because people “want to see the game.”

Biden’s decision was greatly criticized by Democratic strategist James Carville, who argued that it shows a lack of confidence in the president’s ability to perform well.
