Actress Candace Cameron Bure announced a new film franchise on the Great American Family channel.

The franchise will be a string of mysteries centered on the character of Ainsley McGregor, who is based on the book series by Candace Havens. Bure’s first film will be “A Case for the Winemaker,” which shares the name of Havens’s novel.

“There’s nothing more exciting for me than being back in the cozy mystery genre,” Bure said in a statement. “Mysteries are so fun to watch and to try to solve. I hope our faithful fans and audiences fall in love with the townspeople of Sweet River, Texas and Ainsley McGregor’s keen eye for solving mysteries.”

Great American Family was ranked No. 1 in 2022 for total day ratings growth in households (+113%) and No. 1 in prime-time ratings growth among all cable networks (+128%), according to Nielsen. While it fell to 77th place last year, it only decreased in viewership by 4%.
