In two days, California will wrap up the distribution of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program payments to low-income households for the month of March.

Payments are sent out on the first of the month and will continue until the 10th of the month. The dates when benefits are sent out to qualified low-income residents and families are dependent on the recipients’ case numbers.

For instance, California recipients with case numbers ending in 1 received their CalFresh benefits on March 1, and the payment dates continue until Sunday, when those with case numbers ending in 0 will receive their payments.

The exact benefit amount a household will receive depends on several factors, including household size, income limits, and additional assets. The maximum payments are $291 for a household of one, $973 for a household of four, and $1,751 for a household of eight. Up to $219 is added to a household’s food stamps for each member after eight.
