Elon Musks lawyers are attempting to block a quick trial in the lawsuit over his backing out of a deal to buy Twitter, according to a report.

Musk’s lawyers have pushed for a trial to start in February 2023 at the earliest and are opposed to Twitter’s push for a quick trial, according to a report from Bloomberg.

LEGAL PROCEEDINGS BEGIN IN TWITTER LAWSUIT AGAINST ELON MUSK

The report says Musk’s legal team is requesting a longer trial and later start date in a court filing with the Delaware Court of Chancery.

“Twitter’s sudden request for warp speed after two months of foot-dragging and obfuscation is its latest tactic to shroud the truth about spam accounts long enough to railroad defendants into closing,” Musk’s lawyers said in a filing, according to the report.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Twitter for comment.

The reported filing from Musk’s lawyers comes as proceedings in the Twitter lawsuit are set to begin next week.

Musk backed out of a $44 billion deal to acquire Twitter, citing a lack of transparency in terms of how many bot accounts are on the platform. Twitter has sued Musk to push the acquisition deal through.
