Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) will hold a press conference with former President Donald Trump focusing on “election integrity,” a source familiar with the planning told the Washington Examiner.

CNN reported the news of Johnson’s press conference, which has yet to be formally announced.

The event will take place on Friday at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Florida. A source familiar told the Washington Examiner that an announcement is expected to come later on Wednesday.

Trump has repeatedly stated that the results of the 2020 election are illegitimate, claims he and allies have carried through to the former president’s 2024 White House bid.

Johnson has similarly contested the legitimacy of the 2020 election, but unlike Trump, he has stopped short of claiming widespread voter fraud resulted in President Joe Biden‘s victory that year.

Johnson has accused state officials of violating the Constitution by expanding early voting and absentee voting during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The House speaker is staring down a motion to vacate filed by close Trump ally Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) after working with Democrats to pass a mega appropriations package that will fund the government for the coming year.

Johnson’s predecessor, former California Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy, was ousted after similarly working with Democrats to advance stopgap funding packages and security aid for Ukraine.
