WILDWOOD, New Jersey — Former President Donald Trump vowed to replace “Bidenomics” with “MAGAnomics” on his first day in office, should he win in November, during remarks at a massive beach rally on Saturday.
Trump slammed a number of President Joe Biden’s economic policies as he addressed a crowd that he said exceeded 100,000 supporters in Wildwood, New Jersey, noting how New Jerseyans, in particular, have suffered financially under the Biden administration.
“On Day One, we will throw out Bidenomics and we will reinstate MAGAnomics,” Trump said. “And we’re going to bring manufacturing, tourism, and other industries back to New Jersey like it’s never seen before.”
Trump said that over the last three years, the average New Jersey family has lost $23,381 due to what he calls the “Biden inflation tax.” He said the price of hot dogs is up 22%, chickens are up 32%, hamburgers are up 37%, soda is up 30%, eggs are up 50%, gasoline is up 50%, and bacon is up 79%.
“That’s why I don’t have bacon anymore,” he said.
He labeled such inflation figures as “devastating” and warned that they put the country in danger of being “busted by inflation.” Trump also blamed Biden’s policies for the increase in the price of energy.
“The choice for New Jersey and Pennsylvania is simple,” he said. “If you want lower cost, higher income, and more weekends down at the shore,” people should vote for Trump in November.
He claimed that “Crooked Joe wants to massively raise your income taxes” and get rid of Trump’s tax cuts. “Instead of a Biden tax hike,” he said, “I’ll give you a Trump middle-class, upper-class, lower-class, business-class, big tax cut. You’re going to have the biggest tax cut.”
Trump promised rallygoers that he would stop the “Biden spending spree,” the “green new scam,” and Biden’s “inflation death spiral.” He noted that the stock market is performing well but claimed that it is only because he is leading in the polls, and he predicted that if he loses the election, there will be a crash “like in 1929” that infamously began the Great Depression.
The former president said that under his leadership, “We’re going to drill, baby, drill. We’re going to get our energy way down.” He blamed Biden’s policies for “let[ting] energy get out of hand” and oil prices rising to $100 per barrel, which he said has made Russia “a fortune” and helps finance President Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine. He also said Biden is “trying to abolish the suburbs” in New Jersey and that “he will destroy your property value. He will destroy your wealth.”
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), who spoke at the rally before Trump’s remarks, pointed out to the Washington Examiner that “New Jersey is an expensive place to live, so it really hurts the people who live here more than a lot of others. Not everybody is a millionaire who lives in New Jersey.”
“Four years ago, [we had] a great economy, everybody [was] doing well [with] virtually no inflation,” said the congressman, who represents Wildwood and most of South Jersey. “Look where we are now.”
The Washington Examiner spoke to a number of attendees at Trump’s Wildwood rally, many of whom pointed to inflation and the economy as critical concerns.
“All of us that were living paycheck to paycheck are now living paycheck to paycheck plus maxing out every single credit card because this economy is absolutely horrible,” said Christine Powell, 52, a hospice social worker from Medford, New Jersey.
Luke Reed, 18, a student at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, said he is worried about finding a job and buying a house after he graduates college. “Inflation is going crazy. … It wasn’t bad under [Trump], and it’s getting really bad right now.”

“The Biden economic bust will quickly be replaced with a brand new Trump economic boom,” the former president vowed at his rally. “We’re going have another boom like we had. We had the greatest economy in the history of our country.”
