The mayor of a town in California is reassuring residents that newly painted road lines done in a zigzag pattern will be repainted.

The lines were intended to have a slight curve to curb street racing, but the results were unexpected and will be fixed, Hollister, California, Mayor Ignacio Velazquez told KSBW, a local news station in Salinas, California.

“I saw it later in the afternoon on my way home from work, and I thought, ‘Woah, this is the strangest thing I’ve seen,’ Velazquez said. “Basically, it just comes down to the contractor. Somebody didn’t read the plans correctly. It was not designed to look very odd.”

The zigzags of the road lines on Ladd Lane will be fixed by the contractor at no additional cost to local taxpayers, according to the mayor.
