While some parents are against schools asking children their pronouns, along with the idea of possibly identifying as another gender than the one they were born with, there continues to be tension between local school districts and parents.

Barak Lurie, a father of three, decided to take matters into his own hands, instilling the narrative of his own values before his children could be influenced at school or elsewhere.

“They’re going to tell you about America being a racist country, and God not being real, and we just made fun of it,” laughed Lurie, author of Keeping the Kids All Right.  “When it came to going to school, they expected these things to happen; and it did happen, and they were able to laugh at it.”
