Comedian Chris Rock chided Will Smith after the “Fresh Prince” issued an apology for the infamous Oscars slap, saying “everybody is trying to be a f***ing victim.”
The comedian addressed the situation while on his Chris Rock Ego Death world tour in Atlanta hours after Smith posted an apology video that included the King Richard actor admitting his slap of Rock over a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, was “probably irreparable.”
“Everybody is trying to be a f***ing victim. If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims,” Rock said Friday night, per CNN. “Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith … I went to work the next day, I got kids.”

Rock, who has employed an indirect approach to addressing the feud between the two celebrities, later joked, “Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.”
Smith posted the apology video to his personal YouTube channel Friday. The actor read and answered several questions he said he had received.
“I can say to all of you there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment,” Smith said, referring to the slap. “There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insult.”
“‘I’m sorry’ really isn’t sufficient,” Smith added. “I am deeply remorseful, and I’m trying to be remorseful without being ashamed of myself, right? I’m human, and I made a mistake, and I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of s***.”
Smith said he reached out to the Rock to discuss the incident but was told the comedian wasn’t ready to talk directly.
