Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) slammed former President Donald Trump’s use of AI-generated photos on his social media to depict Vice President Kamala Harris as a communist and Taylor Swift fans as MAGA fans.

“Now Trump is also trying to paint Kamala Harris as a communist, posting this fake AI-generated image on his social media account,” CNN anchor Jim Acosta said to Swalwell.

“Congressman, I mean, obviously you have a potent social media, you know, arsenal at your disposal, but so does Donald Trump. How much of this could just be going toe-to-toe?” the CNN host added.

Swalwell tore into the Republican presidential nominee as “an unfocused weirdo” for his recent insults of Harris.

“I may have a potent social media account. Kamala Harris certainly has a more potent social media account,” the California Democrat said on CNN.

Swalwell continued, “I’ll tell you who has probably one of the most potent networks: Swifties.”

He mocked Trump as “this genius” for deciding to “poke the eyes of Swifties,” suggesting that the musician is “endorsing him.”

Trump promoted a collage of AI-generated Swift-related images to his Truth Social account on Sunday, showing apparent support from singer Taylor Swift.

One image shows Swift in a vintage recruitment red, white, and blue poster with the caption “Taylor Swift Wants You To Vote For Donald Trump” alongside the words “I accept!”

Trump later published a video post of an unnamed woman on social media touting the Swiftie vote turning toward the former president.

Swalwell predicted that Swifties would not support Trump.

“I can just make a prediction right now: They are going to have a marvelous time ruining everything for Donald Trump over the next 78 days,” Swalwell said on CNN.

In 2020, Swalwell had created a get-out-the-vote video to encourage voting and Swift had given him permission to use one of her songs for a social media video.

On the first day of the Democratic National Convention, rumors swirled that Swift may make an appearance at the convention. CNN’s morning show anchor speculated that Swift may attend.

“Rumors are swirling big time. Everybody’s talking about it, that two of the biggest names in music: Beyonce, Taylor Swift,” host Sara Sidner said, adding, “We don’t have to parse it. Beyonce, Taylor Swift might make appearances.”

A DNC insider reportedly rejected the rumor Monday afternoon that Swift would appear.

“Everybody loves Taylor, but having her here would overshadow everything,” the insider said to Deadline. “Think about it, no one would remember a word the Vice President said in her acceptance speech. All the headlines would be about Swift.”
