Actress Anne Heche is likely to survive Friday’s car crash that resulted in her car and the apartment building that it hit to burst into flames, according to her ex-boyfriend.
Thomas Jane, who dated Heche from 2019 to 2020, confirmed that doctors treating Heche at a nearby hospital in Los Angeles “expected [Heche] to pull through” in a statement.
“My heart goes out to Anne and her two sons. As of right now Anne is stable and expected to pull through,” Jane said in a statement. “My thoughts and prayers are with Anne, one of the true talents of her generation. Thank God no one else was hurt.”
ACTRESS ANNE HECHE HOSPITALIZED AFTER CAR CRASH
Jane worked with Heche on the HBO Series Hung and said the “tragic news” of her crash “was devastating to me.”
Heche was seen on video driving a blue Mini Cooper in a neighborhood before crashing into an apartment building’s garage, but she was not confirmed to be at the wheel at the time of the crash. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Heche is the vehicle’s registered owner.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said a “female adult found within the vehicle” was taken to a nearby hospital by LAFD paramedics with significant burns, classifying her in “critical condition,” and that no other injuries were reported. A total of 59 firefighters arrived on the scene, and it took 65 minutes to contain and extinguish the fire fully, according to the fire department.
Heche’s brother Nathan died in a car crash three months after the death of their father Don Heche, which Anne Heche has suggested was a suicide. The actress has claimed that she was molested by her father, who died of AIDS in 1983.
