As debate grows regarding President Joe Biden’s prospects for reelection in 2024, CNN host Brian Stelter listed one liability that could imperil them.
While speaking with Michael LaRosa, first lady Jill Biden’s former press secretary who left the job around two weeks ago, Stelter brought up his son, Hunter Biden.
“What about Hunter?” Stelter asked LaRosa. “Hunter is under federal investigation, charges could be coming at any time. This is not just a right-wing media story. This is a real problem for the Bidens.”

LaRosa dismissed concerns from those who think another Democrat should run instead.
“I hope he runs. I know he’s going to run, he’s planning to run,” LaRosa said, adding that the Bidens “make decisions as a family, and they will make that decision when it’s time.”
Stelter asked if the Bidens had, in fact, talked about a 2024 bid for reelection.
“No,” LaRosa replied. “The president is doing his job, and he’s doing his work. He’s not focused on that. It’s 19 months! Why would he do that?”
LaRosa reiterated that the president “intends to run” and said the media should shift to cover “substantive wins” in the past week.
