Michigan authorities confirmed a threat was made to a Detroit polling site as the battleground state gears up for Election Day. 

The threat was made over the phone on Monday against a polling location under 10 miles from downtown Detroit, on the 21600 block of West Seven Mile Road, the Detroit Police Department said in comments to the Washington Examiner. 

“The location is on special attention,” a spokesperson for the DPD’s media relations department added.

The DPD’s cyber crimes division is currently handling the investigation into the incident, which was reported by the Detroit Free Press as a “shooting” threat.

Holding over half a million registered voters, Detroit will play a crucial role in determining which presidential candidate carries Michigan and likely the election on Tuesday. Roughly 43,000 residents cast their ballots during the city’s early voting period, which ended Sunday.
