A would-be home invasion in the Hollywood Hills ended before it could begin Wednesday after homeowners welcomed the intruders with bullets, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the 8100 block of Willow Glen Road, according to a report.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the residence, where they determined a person inside the home opened fire on multiple people who attempted entry, LAPD Officer Annie Hernandez said.

At least one suspect might have been wounded, according to Hernandez.

It is not clear if the injury was the result of the gunfire.

The would-be robbers fled when the bullets started flying and drove off in a white Toyota Corolla, Hernandez said.

No residents of the home were injured, and no property was reported as stolen.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
