Fox News’s Pete Doocy posed the question during Wednesday’s press briefing, stating that the last time Trump and Biden met was during the first presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle, drawing laughter from the other reporters in attendance. One of the most iconic moments in the first 2024 presidential debate occurred when Biden and Trump defended their mental fitness to serve in office, during which the former president cited his golf performance.

“Actually, that’s not the last time they saw each other. They saw each other at Sept. 11,” Jean-Pierre said. “I’m going to move on.”

During the debate earlier this year, Trump referred to how he had just won “two club championships” in golf when promoting his physical fitness, and he knocked Biden for being unable to “hit a ball 50 yards.” Biden, who suspended his reelection bid a month after the June debate with Trump, responded that he would be “happy to play golf” with Trump “if you carry your bag.”

Biden promoted his meeting with Trump on X, writing that he is looking forward “to leading a smooth transition and peaceful transfer of power.”

In addition to his meeting with the president, Trump also met with House Republican leadership, during which he contended, “It’s nice to win.” The president-elect was joined by billionaire and X owner Elon Musk, who, along with billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy, has been recruited by Trump to head the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency.
