The suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Luigi Mangione, screamed at reporters before his extradition hearing in Pennsylvania.

Mangione’s extradition hearing came one day after his first court appearance on Monday evening, following his arrest by police at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s in the wake of a five-day manhunt. Authorities are looking to extradite him to New York, the state of the crime, where he is wanted for murder in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree.

While being taken into court, Mangione shouted his protests to the press waiting outside the police vehicle.

“This is completely unjust and an insult to the intelligence of the American people,” he shouted.

The next part of the audio was garbled, but he appeared to add, “And their lived experience!”

Mangione struggled with police as he shouted, with several officers dragging him through the door.

A spokesperson for Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) told CNN that she plans to submit a warrant for Mangione’s extradition. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office said it will seek that warrant to secure his extradition.

The alleged shooter is currently being held without bail at the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon, according to the extradition filing obtained by Fox News.

Mangione has denied any wrongdoing, suggesting that evidence presented to the court may have been planted. He also is reportedly contesting his extradition to New York.

According to the NYPD and released surveillance footage, Thompson was shot multiple times at 6:45 a.m. last week outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel, where he was headed to a UnitedHealthcare investor conference. His assassin, believed to be Mangione, quickly fled the scene and was last seen in Central Park. He was caught in surveillance footage fleeing on a bike.

Mangione was caught Monday, with police saying he was identified at a McDonald’s.
