Police arrested an alleged prostitute after stealing the $35,000 Rolex from a tourist in a Las Vegas casino.
Las Vegas police found and arrested the alleged thief, Deonna McCray of California, on Monday, nine weeks after the theft was reported by an anonymous tourist. McCray has since been booked at Clark County Detention Center “on felony counts of grand larceny and residential burglary,” according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The man was staying in the Cosmopolitan hotel in June when he met McCray and a second woman, according to the police report. He made it clear to police that “he knew the females were probably prostitutes” but allowed them access to his room so they could rest because they were tired. Police reported that “he was not interested in anything of the sort” and only let them sleep and eat in his room, where he found them there at 2 a.m. and joined them to sleep until about six hours later.

When the man woke up at 8 a.m., he found one of the two women missing, his suitcase ransacked, and his Rolex Daytona watch missing. He reported the crime to law enforcement, and the other unidentified woman cooperated in the investigation.
A combination of video surveillance footage and McCray’s previous police records helped officers find and arrest her. This was McCray’s third watch theft this year in Vegas. She previously stole a $20,000 Rolex watch and a Bulova watch valued anywhere between $100 and $600. McCray was ordered to stay out of trouble for a year and to stay out of the Vegas Strip after she pleaded no contest to her first theft charge.
