Electric vehicle maker Rivian is releasing more delivery vans to its fleet, the company announced Monday.
This comes on the heels of President Donald Trump ending the program that federally subsidized EV chargers. The program had a goal of building 500,000 chargers in the country by 2030. By December 2023, no chargers had been installed, and by February 2025, 55 charging stations were built, according to analytics firm Paren.
“Rivian has been trialing its commercial van with several large fleets in the U.S., and preparing its fleet management process for the mass market,” Rivian said in a statement. “These pilots have paved the way to enable Rivian to open sales further.”
Amazon had an exclusive deal with Rivian for its delivery vans until 2023. The e-commerce company has about 20,000 vans in its fleet. Rivian has a goal to fulfill an order of 100,000 vans by 2030.

Last year, Americans bought over 1,500,000 plug-in and battery electric vehicles. This was almost a fourth of all electric vehicles purchased since 2010.
