

The four deputies were First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer, Deputy Mayor for Operations Meera Joshi, Deputy Mayor for Health Human Services Anne Williams-Isom, and Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Chauncey Parker.
“I am disappointed to see them go, but given the current challenges, I understand their decision and wish them nothing but success in the future,” Adams said in a statement.
The move came days after the DOJ filed a motion to dismiss its case against the 64-year-old mayor, drawing controversy and causing several prosecutors and officials to leave their jobs instead of complying with Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove’s order to drop the charges.

Torres-Springer, Williams-Isom, and Joshi released a joint statement thanking Adams for the opportunity to serve.
“Due to the extraordinary events of the last few weeks and to stay faithful to the oaths we swore to New Yorkers and our families, we have come to the difficult decision to step down from our roles,” they said.
The Southern District of New York indicted Adams last year on allegations that he accepted illegal campaign donations and luxury international travel from a Turkish government official and foreign business people.

Danielle Sassoon, acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, was one of those who resigned. She alleged that Adams’s attorneys proposed a quid pro quo scenario regarding Adams’s immigration enforcement policy. Adams’s attorney denied the claim.
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) is also facing calls to use her legal authority to remove Adams from office, although she has not yet done so.
