Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) defended the volunteer head of the Department of Government Efficiency Elon Musk from the Democratic Party’s criticisms.
DOGE is examining the Education, Homeland Security, and Treasury departments, in addition to NASA. Donalds appeared on Fox News’s Life, Liberty, and Levin Saturday to detail how Democratic politicians are guilty of “rank hypocrisy” when they accuse Musk of being an unelected oligarch.
HOWARD LUTNICK SAYS ELON MUSK COMMITTED TO CUT $1 TRILLION
“Now that the Democrats are upset, it’s because Donald Trump has empowered Elon Musk and his team to use that same discretion given to the federal government by the progressives to unwind the very leviathan that they created,” Donalds said.
“It has to do with a very simple thing, they love the massive bloat in waste,” Donalds went on. “You’ve got Stacey Abrams in one of her climate groups is supposed to get to billion dollars. When you look at their tax returns their revenue is only $100. They’re getting $2 billion? … But there is a report that came up the other day that under Joe Biden, he let 53 researchers and students, unpaid people go in and have full access to the data of the American people at the IRS. Joe Biden’s administration let that happen. So, they have no problem with the waste, and the fraud, and the abuse as long as their special interest groups are being funded and their ideology is being promoted regardless of the will of the American people.”

This comes after the IRS saw a mass firing of over 6,000 employees. They were between 6% and 7% of the agency’s 100,000-person workforce. They worked away from the Washington, D.C., area, as the employees who lost their jobs from offices located in Florida, Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas.
DOGE has gone on to cancel government contracts, leases, and grants. According to the department, this has already saved $55 billion.
