It comes as the Trump administration is taking on a much different media strategy than its predecessor. White House press briefings are opening up to smaller outlets, reserving a rotating seat in the front row for reporters that weren’t traditionally present. So far, President Donald Trump is on track to offer more press conferences than former President Joe Biden did, which would be a repeat of Trump’s first term.
An online scuffle between White House communications director Steven Cheung and Psaki ensued as Cheung took to X to share a photo of the former press secretary’s foregone notecards with her name emblazoned at the top.
“A relic of the past found in a random cabinet in the White House,” Cheung captioned the photo. “Apparently @jrpsaki was soooooo important she had personalized note cards made to remind people how ‘important’ she was.”
“Would hope you had more important things to worry about (you know the cost of eggs, childcare, veterans waiting for care…could literally go on),” Psaki wrote on X, “but hey since you raised it I purchased these myself to write notes to colleagues and staff to thank them for their work and also to write back to people who wrote me including kids. How dare I!”
“You shouldn’t have left your s*** laying around. Clean up after yourself,” Cheung responded.

Psaki became an anchor on MSNBC in February 2023. She was succeeded at the White House press room podium by Karine Jean-Pierre, a secretary celebrated by the Biden administration as being the first lesbian woman of color to take on the role.
Most recently, Psaki is taking over former MSNBC anchor Alex Wagner’s 9 p.m. spot from Tuesdays to Fridays after hosting a Sunday afternoon and Monday evening show.
