The Philadelphia Eagles have accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump to visit the White House after their Super Bowl 59 win.
Some believed the football team would miss out on the visit as they did after winning the 2018 Super Bowl during Trump’s first term. Trump rescinded their invitation after several players declined to go.
On Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed that the Eagles “enthusiastically accepted” the invitation after their second Super Bowl win in franchise history in February.
“I know there was a lot of fake news about an invitation that wasn’t sent or was sent. We want to correct the record: We sent an invitation. They enthusiastically accepted, and you will see them here on April 28,” Leavitt said at the daily White House briefing.
Star offensive tackle Lane Johnson previously said it would be a team decision whether the Eagles would visit the White House if invited.

“I’d be honored to go, regardless of who the president is, but we’ll see,” Johnson said in response to a question asked by Sportico’s Eric Jackson. “It’s ultimately a team decision. I’ll do what’s best for the team.”
While Leavitt stated April 28 as the special day, a team spokesperson told CNN that they are “working on scheduling a date and logistics” for the White House visit.
