President Donald Trump made gains with several different demographics in the 2024 election, but six months later, polls indicate his support has slipped with those same key groups.
The Cook Political Report‘s PollTracker showed that Trump’s approval rating has dropped since April. On April 15, 50.1% of voters disapproved of his job, and 46.2% approved. While he has fallen with all major groups during that span, Trump’s dip in approval has been most pronounced with Latinos, independents, and young voters.
During that same period, Trump’s net disapproval rating dropped 7.9% among independents, 10.4% among Latinos, and 11.8% among voters aged 18-29. As of Wednesday, the outlet’s Polltracker reported Trump’s disapproval ratings of 60.2% to 35.5% with Latinos, 60.9% to 33.8% with independents, and 59.1% to 36.2% with 18- to 29-year-olds.
According to CNN exit polls, Trump made significant gains with all three groups in the 2024 election compared to the 2020 election.
In 2020, former President Joe Biden beat Trump with Latino voters, 65%-32%; in 2024, former Vice President Kamala Harris only beat Trump, 51%-46%, with that group. With independents, Trump narrowed the 54%-41% Biden advantage in 2020 to a 49%-46% Harris advantage in 2024. Among voters ages 18-29, Biden beat Trump, 60% to 36%, in 2020, while Harris only beat Trump, 54% to 43%, in 2024.

While the president’s approval numbers have slipped, his competition has not been able to capitalize on the slide, with ratings for the Democratic Party also slipping. Democrats have been dogged by poor polling figures since Trump’s November election victory, as the party searches for a new leader and message to guide the way.
A CNN poll released late last month showed that while Republican congressional leaders have a 62%-37% net disapproval rating, Democratic congressional leaders have a 72%-27% net disapproval rating, following a trend of Democrats’ favorability falling behind their GOP counterparts.
I did not vote for Trump, I did not vote for Kamala. But I damned sure don’t vote because of a rigged poll. None of the polls can be trusted. The way the questions are asked, the demographics, etc.. all play a part, and of course the flat out lies to try and manipulate the way people think. I will admit that the News media, all of them, including Fox, are left leaning big time. They have hated Trump since he won the first time, even though the news media told us that Hillary was going to win, even up to the last minute on election night, Nov. 2016. I would venture to say that ALL of the news media committed election interference by reporting that Hillary was going to win, almost guaranteeing she would win, and that made millions of Hillary voters stay home and not vote because of the manipulative reporting. Seems to be that the news media hates all of us and will screw with our heads to gain some sort of political agenda. Yet, most people still get all of their news from them and believe everything they say. How sad for this country.
