Friday night’s football game between Virginia Tech and Old Dominion University experienced some technical difficulties thanks to a malfunctioning elevator.
The coaches for the Hokies were taking a ride in an elevator to make their way back to their coaching box at Old Dominion’s S.B. Ballard Stadium during halftime. But due to getting stuck in the elevator, the game ended up getting delayed due to no coaches being present for the Hokies to resume the game, according to Yahoo Sports.
The coaches were in the elevator for a little more than 15 minutes, dragging out halftime to over 30 minutes before the football game could continue.

The elevator was not the only problem the coaches faced Friday night, as Virginia Tech ended up losing the game to Old Dominion, with the score tally ending with 20-17. The game was Old Dominion’s second win over a Power Five program in the school’s history, with the first in 2018 when the Monarchs beat the Hokies with a score of 49-35.

Friday night’s game marked the first of a 10-year contract between the two schools to alternate home games.
