Almost half of Democrats said they will be voting in the midterm elections on Nov. 8, compared to 45% of Republicans.

The new Yahoo News-YouGov poll also revealed that 45% of voters said they would select Democrats for Congress in their district if the election were held today. Only 40% said they would vote for a Republican candidate.

Democrats are more likely (81%) to vote against candidates endorsed by former President Donald Trump than Republicans (73%)
are to vote against those whom President Joe Biden has endorsed.

Additionally, the majority of Democrats claimed their vote is driven by “opposing candidates who are loyal to Donald Trump,” while far fewer Republicans, only 36%, are motivated by “supporting candidates who are loyal to Donald Trump.”

Despite Democrats’ relative readiness to vote, Republicans have them beat when it comes to keeping an eye on election campaigns. Forty-eight percent of Republicans versus 47% of Democrats said they are paying “a lot” of attention to this election cycle.

When it comes to independents, they preferred Republican congressional candidates to Democratic candidates by 10 percentage points.

The survey was conducted between Sept. 2-6 and included 1,634 respondents. The margin of error is 2.6%.
