President Joe Biden will hold a midterm campaign rally for Democratic candidates in Orlando, Florida, on Sept. 27, according to the White House.
The trip will mark Biden’s second to the state as president. He visited the Miami suburb of Surfside, Florida, in 2021 after a condominium collapse killed dozens of residents.
BIDEN: ABBOT, DESANTIS ‘UN-AMERICAN’ FOR USING IMMIGRANTS AS ‘PROPS’
He was previously scheduled to attend the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives’s annual conference and speak at a Democratic National Committee event in Tampa, Florida, over the summer, but the trip was scrapped after he tested positive for COVID-19.
White House officials declined to give additional information about Biden’s trip, but it comes as the administration and national Democrats have escalated a feud with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) over his and Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R-TX) efforts to transport migrants to cities controlled by Democrats along the East Coast.
On Wednesday, DeSantis sent two planes loaded with immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, prompting White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to call him “inhumane” and Biden to urge other Republicans to “call out” DeSantis and Abbott’s actions.
“Instead of working with us on solutions, Republicans are playing politics with human beings, using them as props,” Biden stated during remarks at the 45th Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Gala in Washington Thursday night. “What they’re doing is simply wrong. It’s un-American, it’s reckless, and we have a process in place to manage migrants at the border.”

“Republican officials should not interfere with that process by waging a political — these political stunts,” he continued. “It’s long overdue for Senate Republicans to come to the table and provide a pathway for citizenship for DREAMers, those in temporary status, farm workers, and essential workers. We need to modernize our laws so businesses get workers they need and families don’t have to wait decades to be brought back together. It’s time to get it done.”
