EXCLUSIVE — Former Trump adviser Sebastian Gorka is looking to get involved with the House Republicans’ expected investigation into Hunter Biden if the party takes back the lower chamber.

Gorka met with Rep. Matt Gaetz on Wednesday as the Florida Republican attempts to recruit the controversial conservative pundit to become a staff director if a select committee is formed to examine the business dealings of President Joe Biden’s son, according to one source familiar with the meeting.

Although House Republicans have expressed that investigating Hunter Biden would be a priority for the standing committees of jurisdiction, it remains unclear whether the party’s leadership is considering establishing the select committee and whether Gaetz would be tapped to lead or sit on the panel if it is created.

“Gaetz is the one that is trying to bring him on board, but it looks like that’s where the other folks who are ideologically aligned with Gaetz want to go as well,” the source said.

Gorka said he would not divulge the specifics of his conversation with Gaetz but confirmed they discussed what the Republicans’ strategy should be ahead of next year.

“We discussed whether or not that is the right approach because, here’s the issue — the Hunter Biden laptops, it’s so many different authorities. So, there’s the question of just corruption, tax evasion, crimes against the ATF when he lied on the purchase of that gun. And then, there’s all the national security aspects. So, the dealings with China, the dealings with Ukraine, the dealings in Iraq — so, there’s the whole aspect of, of just criminal investigation, and then, there’s a whole aspect of national security,” he told the Washington Examiner.

He added that he feels his experience working for the Hungarian Ministry of Defense has prepared him to assist in congressional investigations and that he hopes to discuss the matter with House Judiciary Committee ranking member Jim Jordan (R-OH).

“The question is, do we deal with the Hunter Biden scandal and the Biden corruption scandal in standing committees like Judiciary and national defense, or do Armed Services, or do we have a select committee? So, I can’t go into the details of our discussion, but you know, I’ve served as an investigator before in the Hungarian Parliament,” he said.

“I investigated a former communist prime minister in 2001, so I’ve done this job before — I’ve investigated corrupt heads of state, and I still have my full top secret clearances from my time in the White House,” he added. “So, we talked about how I would run an investigation and the two major baskets of issues that I would look into when it comes to the corruption of the Biden family, but that’s about as much as I can say right now.”

Republicans on the House Oversight Committee have vowed to scrutinize Hunter Biden’s laptop, the contents of which have been obtained by several news outlets, with GOP lawmakers arguing they need to look at whether Joe Biden’s decisions as vice president were swayed by his son’s business dealings. Biden has vehemently denied allegations of wrongdoing, and top Democrats argue that Republicans are targeting the president’s son while turning a blind eye to former President Donald Trump and his children’s affairs, as well as other scandals.

Gorka said whether to establish the panel will be a “strategic decision that the GOP leadership has to take. Sebastian Gorka’s opinion is that we need to have a special committee because we’re talking about eventually an impeachment of the sitting president.”

Several firebrand conservatives have raised the prospect of attempting to impeach Joe Biden next year, which has been met with reservations from a significant part of the House GOP conference.
