The longest government shutdown in U.S. history is one step closer to coming to an end, with the Senate set to vote on short-term funding that will keep the government operational through Jan. 30, 2026.

The measure requires a simple majority and now heads to the House for final passage, where it is expected to be approved in the coming days. The deal also includes three appropriations bills.
