The music of Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, will remain available on Spotify.
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek noted that the recent string of antisemitic and offensive remarks made by Ye was “just awful” but that the rapper’s music meets the streaming platform’s content policies.
“It’s really just his music, and his music doesn’t violate our policy,” Ek said, according to a report. “It’s up to his label, if they want to take action or not.”

Spotify joined Netflix in choosing to not cut ties with Ye while several other media companies, social media, and various retail brands, including Adidas and Balenciaga, have parted ways with the rapper and clothing designer.
Netflix said its decision to keep Ye’s documentary Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy available for streaming was based on the notion that Ye is the subject of the documentary but was not involved in creating it, and that there is nothing antisemitic in the documentary, according to TMZ.
The documentary debuted earlier this year.
