Star Trek icon William Shatner said Monday he is “on the same page” with Stephen Miller’s criticism for the science fiction’s newest television series.

Miller, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff, is among the growing critics of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, with various X accounts mocking clips of the show. Miller said on X Thursday that the current status of Star Trek is “tragic,” but that it’s possible to still revive the franchise with “step one” being to reconcile with Shatner and give him “total creative control.”

Shatner portrayed Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series and seven movies. He voiced his approval for Miller’s suggestion on X.

“I am so on the same page with you @StephenM! The fact that they have not cure Hyperopia by the 32rd Century is an abysmal oversight on the writers!” Shatner said on X.

Shatner also joked at the clip Miller reposted, which featured a character briefly putting on glasses before handing them off to another crewmate. Shatner suggested Paramount+ “needs to up the budget” so that the ship’s crewmembers “could afford more than one pair of glasses.”

“I am ready to assume command of the series! Call me!” Shatner added.

Following his space ventures on the silver screen, Shatner became the oldest person to fly to outer space when he was a crewmember on a Blue Origin rocket in October 2021. Shatner was 90 when he flew on the rocket, owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos.

Shatner has also been a guest at various conventions, with his next appearance set for GalaxyCon in Richmond, Virginia, this March.

The Washington Examiner contacted Paramount Skydance, the parent company of Paramount+, for comment.
