Musician Shay Mooney of the duo Dan + Shay revealed a nearly 50-pound weight loss Thursday.
While Mooney had shared full-body photos of himself on Instagram in the months leading up to the announcement, he shared how much weight he’d lost to his Instagram story.
“Been a little over 5 months I believe and I’m down almost 50lbs,” Mooney wrote. “For those asking: Eating clean/not drinking alcohol and walking 7 miles a day. And some weights. That’s it!”

Mooney went on to encourage his nearly 300,000 followers to take his post as a “sign” to get healthy themselves, writing that he “literally never felt better physically, mentally, and spiritually.”
“If you’re looking for a sign … Love y’all,” Mooney wrote.
Mooney’s announcement comes on the heels of musician Taylor Swift editing her music video to appease her fans that called it “fatphobic.” The original music video for “Anti-Hero,” which premiered on Oct. 21 along with Swift’s new album Midnights, featured a scene in which the award-winning singer stepped on a scale, which in turn read, “Fat.” The current video only shows her standing on the scale, not its reading.
