Alec Baldwin is out as the lead in the new spy thriller Chief of Station.
Baldwin will no longer play the lead in the project, and his role will be taken on by Aaron Eckhart, according to Deadline.
The controversial actor previously expressed concern over finding employment following the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust.

He also said he was scared of attacks from supporters of former President Donald Trump. “The former president of the United States said, ‘He probably shot her on purpose.’ To me was really the only time I thought that I needed — that I was worried about what was going to happen. Because here was Trump, who instructed people to commit acts of violence, and he was pointing the finger at me and saying I was responsible for the death,” Baldwin explained.
Baldwin reportedly had to drop out of the role due to a production shoot in Hungary that is taking longer than expected. Shooting for Chief of Station begins next month.
Earlier this month, the actor announced that he reached a settlement with Hutchins’s family. “Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation,” he said in an Instagram post.
