Sentencing for the Waukesha, Wisconsin, Christmas parade killer, Darrell Brooks, is scheduled for Nov. 15 and 16 — and he plans to have “20 or more” people speak on his behalf.
Brooks pleaded with Judge Jennifer Dorow on Monday to allow for “enough time” ahead of his sentencing. He is being sentenced after he was found guilty of 76 charges last week, six of which were for first-degree intentional homicide. According to him, “some people will be traveling” and “I could benefit from a little bit more time.”

He added that it would be “a big help and a great benefit if I could have a little bit more time to tie up the loose ends.”
Brooks referenced having other court proceedings scheduled in Milwaukee later in November.
Dorow said she will make Zoom communication available for those who do not live in close proximity.
Further, in an apparent inmate communication, Brooks said he plans to appeal his conviction. “Will address Monday in court,” the communication attributed to Brooks read. He did not address the communication during the scheduling hearing on Monday, however.

The state revealed that 36 victims or their chosen representatives will read statements during sentencing. The vehicular attack on the Waukesha Christmas parade in 2021 left six dead and dozens more injured. The anniversary of the event is Nov. 21, a date Dorow noted the court is intentionally avoiding out of respect.
