House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) said the United States is “on track to repeat what happened in Germany.”

“When it elected a chancellor that then co-opted the media,” he explained to Fox News Digital.

“This past president called the press the enemy of the people,” he continued. “That is a bunch of crap. And that is what’s going on in this country.”

In a Thursday interview, Clyburn further blamed the Right’s “demonization of Nancy Pelosi” for the recent hammer attack on her husband, Paul, in their San Francisco home.

On inflation and the economy, he claimed voters should follow their self-interest, which he says “is much more than what you may or may not be paying for gas or a loaf of bread.”

“Are we going to have a society that everyone can participate in? Or are we going to have an autocracy?” he asked.

Across the country, there are several close races in both the House and Senate, and while the Republicans are expected by many to win more seats in the House, the Senate is considered anyone’s game.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has been adamant that the Democrats will perform well across the country. In the upper chamber, however, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), was recently caught on a hot mic discussing his midterm worries with President Joe Biden.
