For California residents who have not yet received their direct payments of up to $1,050 to help offset the costs of rising inflation rates, a second round of payments is set to be mailed out in the coming days.

Officials began distributing the Middle Class Tax Refund payments in early October, sending out roughly $9.5 billion to California residents through direct payments. Payments can either be delivered through direct deposit or as a prepaid debit card, which may take a bit longer to be delivered.

California officials began a second round of sending out the one-time payment to eligible residents on Oct. 28, noting the payments should arrive by mid-November. It’s not clear how long it will take for all payments to be disbursed, with the last of payments expected to arrive by the end of January.

To be eligible for the payments, residents must have filed their 2020 tax returns by the deadline of Oct. 15, 2021, and cannot be listed as a dependent. Payment amounts will vary depending on one’s marital status and annual income.

Married couples filing jointly could be paid anywhere from $400 to $1,050, while heads of household could receive anywhere from $200 to $700, depending on income and number of dependents.
