Aaron Carter died Saturday at the age of 34, according to media reports.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that a suspicious death had taken place in Carter’s California residence.
Carter was a solo artist, known for his hits like “Aaron’s Party” when he was a teenager, following in the footsteps of his older brother Nick Carter who was part of the Backstreet Boys. Nick Carter would go on to file a restraining order against his younger brother in 2019. The older Carter confirmed at the time that their sister Angel had also filed a restraining order against Aaron.

“In light of Aaron’s increasingly alarming behavior and his recent confession that he harbors thoughts and intentions of killing my pregnant wife and unborn child, we were left with no choice but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family,” Nick Carter wrote at the time.
Carter’s family has not commented publicly on the matter.
Carter revealed during a 2019 episode of The Doctors that he was schizophrenic, manic depressive, and suffered from multiple personalities as well as acute anxiety. The singer was open about his struggles with drugs and alcohol over the years.
