President Donald Trump’s signature will appear on all new paper currency, a first for a sitting president, the Treasury said Thursday.

The unprecedented move was announced in a press release from the Treasury, which said the move was in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, we are on a path toward unprecedented economic growth, lasting dollar dominance, and fiscal strength and stability,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said. “There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S. dollar bills bearing his name, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the Semiquincentennial.”

U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach echoed this sentiment, saying it was an appropriate move.

“As the 250th anniversary of our great nation approaches, American currency will continue to stand as a symbol of prosperity, strength, and the unshakable spirit of the American people under President Trump’s leadership,” he said. “The President’s mark on history as the architect of America’s Golden Age economic revival is undeniable. Printing his signature on the American currency is not only appropriate, but also well deserved.”

Traditionally, only the signatures of the treasury secretary and the treasurer appear on U.S. currency. Trump’s signature will replace Beach’s on the U.S. dollar.

TRUMP SAYS IRANIAN POWER PLANTS WON’T BE TARGETED FOR 10 DAYS AS PEACE TALKS PERSIST

The move is the latest effort from the famously image-conscious president to ensure his legacy. His administration has put his name on the Trump-Kennedy Center, the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace, a special Trump gold coin, the Trump class of battleships, “Trump Accounts,” and more. Other efforts have paid homage to him in some way, such as the F-47 class of fighters, with the 47 as a reference to his presidency.

The moves are a holdover from his business and entertainment career, when he was known to attach his name to a wide variety of products.
