The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro backed President Donald Trump, calling out political commentators with “fringe” audiences criticizing the U.S.’s war against Iran.

Trump went after Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Infowars founder Alex Jones, and Candace Owens for their criticism against him on Thursday, saying they have “Low IQs” as they post content against the Iran hostilities. Shapiro, a fellow commentator, said he doesn’t see this rift between Trump and these critics as a “major issue” for the Republican Party’s base.

“I think the president is exactly right to call this out for what it is, which is people who have fringe audiences; they have large numbers but fringe audiences in terms of the broader, overall Republican audience,” Shapiro said on Fox News’s The Sunday Briefing. “Multiple polls have shown over the course of the last month and a half that the president has 80% to 90% support inside the Republican Party for his actions in Iran. There was a poll, maybe two weeks ago, that showed that the support for people like Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly versus the president is 6%.”

“So I think that the idea that these folks are going to be able to undermine broadscale support for a war that will reach its terminus sometime in the next couple of months, I think that’s insane,” Shapiro said.

Shapiro also said two issues are being ignored in making the Iran war a referendum on the 2026 election cycle, one being that multiple issues are at play ahead of the midterm elections. He added that “about a thousand news cycles” will occur between Sunday and Election Day this November.

Shapiro said there is an “algorithmic disconnect” on social media at play with reaction to the Iran war, and said people need to “touch grass.” He also said most right-wing voices have said for almost 50 years that Iran is a security threat, and Trump is fulfilling a promise he made in 1980, if he ever became president, to take on Iran.

MAGA INSIDERS DIVIDED OVER TRUMP’S WAR ON CONSERVATIVE CRITICS

Carlson said he hasn’t “fallen out” with the president, but that he feels sorry for Trump, “as I do for all slaves.” Carlson also responded to Trump’s statement by selling “Low IQ” merchandise, including hats bearing this nickname.

Jones responded to Trump’s statement by saying he wants to focus on the midterm elections and things Trump is doing well, but added if Trump wants a fight, “you came to the right place.” Owens, a former Daily Wire commentator, responded to Trump by saying, “It may be time to put Grandpa up in a home.”
