Pat Buchanan, who shaped the debate on the Right from Richard Nixon to Donald Trump, is being recognized with a Bulldog Award for lifetime achievement from the Media Research Center.

Buchanan is one of eight people or organizations who will be honored in the awards. They will be announced later on Tuesday, a day after the Pulitzer Prizes, but they were shared early with Washington Secrets.

Winners include the Morning Wire, which takes the podcast award, and Stephen L. Miller, better known to his half-million followers on X as @redsteeze, who claims the social media award.

Buchanan, 87, retired from journalism three years ago, ending an extraordinary career. He ran for president three times and saw his positions — from advocating curbs on free trade and immigration, pushing pro-life policies, and ending American involvement in foreign wars — take on fresh relevance with President Donald Trump’s rise.

“His influence helped lay the groundwork for today’s populist movement and the broader challenge to ‘fake news’ media narratives,” said the judges in their citation.

The Bulldogs are designed to recognize conservative voices that the group says are overlooked by liberal media.

“This year’s Media Research Center Bulldog Award winners stand in stark contrast to
the elitist media’s herd mentality,” said MRC President David Bozell. “These
courageous journalists refuse to follow the pack, choosing instead to deliver truth over
narrative, facts over favoritism, and accountability over activism.

“They represent the best of American journalism — independent, fearless, and committed to informing the public rather than manipulating it.”

The winners are:

MRC Bulldog Award for Lifetime Achievement: Patrick J. Buchanan. The judges said few figures have had a greater impact on the modern conservative movement than Buchanan. A six-decade veteran of politics and media, Buchanan helped shape the national debate as a speechwriter for President Richard Nixon, a syndicated columnist for nearly 50 years, and a formidable television presence.

MRC Bulldog Award for Outstanding Podcast: Morning Wire. Offering a concise, professionally produced alternative to legacy media, the weekday podcast provides top news coverage with a focus on Washington, D.C., policy and politics, the judges concluded.

MRC Bulldog Award for Outstanding Social Media Personality: Stephen L. Miller. The panel, in its citation, said Miller was one of the most influential voices in media criticism online. His sharp, relentless commentary drives daily conversation, often shaping coverage across digital outlets. Through a steady stream of incisive posts and his Versus Media podcast, Miller blends analysis with humor, holding journalists and institutions accountable while amplifying others in the media criticism space.

MRC Bulldog Award for Outstanding Columnist: Douglas Murray. Drawing on his trans-Atlantic perspective, Douglas Murray delivers incisive commentary on the cultural and political challenges facing the United States and the West. Writing for outlets such as the New York Post and the Spectator, Murray tackles issues ranging from extremism on the left to immigration and Big Tech censorship.

MRC Bulldog Award for Outstanding Investigative Journalist: Nick Minock. Minock has distinguished himself as one of the most impactful local investigative reporters in the country, the judges said. At WJLA in the Washington, D.C., market, he has exposed the real-world consequences of “sanctuary” policies and soft-on-crime governance in Northern Virginia.

MRC Bulldog Award for Outstanding Reporter: Jennie Taer. Taer has emerged as a leading voice in immigration reporting, combining on-the-ground coverage with sharp analysis. Now with the Daily Wire, she has delivered exclusive reporting on deportation efforts, border conditions, and enforcement operations.

MRC Bulldog Award for Outstanding Radio Talk Show Host: Dana Loesch. The nation’s top female talk radio host commands a massive audience with her bold, no-nonsense style and sharp political insight. Broadcasting The Dana Show to more than 150 stations nationwide, she consistently challenges liberal orthodoxy while advocating for core constitutional freedoms.

MRC Bulldog Award for Outstanding Achievement Behind Enemy Lines: Shermichael Singleton. As a conservative voice on CNN, Singleton stands out for his ability to
challenge dominant narratives in often hostile environments. Frequently outnumbered
on panels, he brings clarity, composure, and factual rigor to debates. Singleton’s willingness to confront both panelists and hosts while maintaining a measured tone makes him one of the most effective conservative commentators working in legacy media today.
