President Donald Trump indicated there was no rush to get International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors into Iran to verify agreed-upon restrictions on their nuclear program.
During an informal press conference at Pennsylvania’s Reading Regional Airport, Trump told reporters that Iranian social media accounts suggesting there were no scheduled IAEA inspections were “wrong.”
“They’re wrong, they’re wrong, they’re wrong, they know they’re wrong,” the president said. “They told us inside and we have it down, 100% inspections. And if they were right, I’d cancel the meetings right now.
“There’s no rush, but they’ll be on the ground at the appropriate time,” he said.
Trump, who is in Pennsylvania for an appearance at Mack Trucks, went on to underscore the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which has been shuttered since Operation Epic Fury started on Feb. 28. The president specifically highlighted that 19 million barrels of oil moved through the strait on Monday alone and that oil prices were falling as a result.
“We’re doing very well with Iran,” he said. “It’s been amazing, and the big thing is Iran will not have a nuclear weapon.”
Trump also had a message to the critics of his 14-point memorandum of understanding with Iran, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
“Anybody that’s been critical of it has to be educated, even if they’re friends of mine, because we have Iran in a position that nobody has ever had,” he said. “This should have been done for 47 years by other presidents, and we have Iran in a position where their military has been totally wiped out, their leadership has been wiped out, their radar has been wiped out, everything has been wiped out. They have not a good negotiating position.”

Trump signed a 14-point MOU with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian last week, which provides 60 more days for more negotiations regarding Tehran’s nuclear program, its ballistic missile development, and its use of proxies and terrorism networks to create regional security instability.
