In a lengthy Truth Social post detailing a Sunday morning “tour of various Statues, Monuments, Foundations and, most importantly, an old and rundown Golf Course” Trump provided updates on the Lincoln Memorial’s Reflecting Pool, Lafayette Park, and the “dilapidated, worn out, and very dangerous and outdated Golf Course known as East Potomac Golf Links.”

Trump said Tom Fazio, the renowned course designer leading the renovations, was on the tour where it was determined that “we will build one of the Greatest Golf Courses anywhere in the World.”

“When completed, this Course will have the ability to host Major Golf Tournaments, including The U.S. Open, The Ryder Cup, The PGA Championship, and other top PGA Tour events,” Trump said. “The grass is largely dead, the greens are virtually unplayable, and the Course is in very poor general condition, but, after many years of horrendous maintenance, and little money devoted to the process of the upkeep, we have determined that this location can bring tremendous success and prestige back to Washington, D.C.”

The Trump administration struck a deal in May with the National Links Trust, the group that has long leased the course, to begin renovations on Washington’s three public golf courses alongside the National Park Service and “other partners.” Department of the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum released the new design just days later, which appears to include a new driving range facing the Washington Monument and a new 18-hole course replacing the current two 9-hole courses and one 18-hole course.

“It will be built through the Department of the Interior, and designed to the Highest Standards of Golf, but also in such a way that the General Public will love it,” Trump added in the post.

East Potomac Golf Links is one of Washington’s three public courses, alongside Langston Golf Course and Rock Creek Park Golf, which will also be renovated under the plan.
