President Donald Trump announced that the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) pardon attorney, Ed Martin, was leaving to “fight Legal Battles for the upcoming Midterm Election,” along with the 2028 presidential election.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed that Martin has “done an incredible job as an Attorney, Director of the Weaponization Working Group” and as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.” Trump added that Martin would “do an outstanding job” and help to “ensure Free, Fair, and Honest Elections.”
“Ed Martin has been with me from the very beginning, and done an incredible job as an Attorney, Director of the Weaponization Working Group, and the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia,” Trump wrote. “Ed is now leaving to go outside to fight Legal Battles for the upcoming Midterm Election, and the Presidential Election of 2028.”
Trump continued: “I know he will do an outstanding job, ensure Free, Fair, and Honest Elections, and strongly advance our Constitutional Rights.”
Breitbart News’s Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle reported in February, that in a “never-before-seen” memo that Breitbart News obtained, Martin wrote that Trump “dedicated the Republican Party platform to the ‘forgotten men and women of America.’”
“In Milwaukee, in 2024, you dedicated the Republican Party platform to the ‘forgotten men and women of America,’” Martin said. “In so many ways, you have lived up to this dedication and in one special way you have delivered via your power to grant clemency through pardon and commutation. You delivered mercy to the forgotten men and women of America in record numbers.”
