Singer Madonna is causing a commotion again.
The pop icon is featured on the cover of Vanity Fair in parts of Europe portraying Jesus and the Virgin Mary in a new feature for the magazine.
“Icon. Pioneer. Diva. Pop stars. The first #VFIconIssue could only be dedicated to. For her return to the scene and to commemorate her 40-year career, Vanity Fair has involved the singer in a project signed by photographers Luigi & Iango,” a tweet from Vanity Fair Italia stated.

This isn’t the first time Madonna has made headlines regarding religion. Then-Pope John Paul II encouraged fans in Italy to boycott her.

Pepsi, who signed Madonna to a multimillion-dollar deal and had filmed an ad featuring the song, later pulled it from the airwaves following the uproar.
The ad and video were at the time used to promote her “Blonde Ambition” world tour in 1990. On Tuesday, Madonna announced a new “Celebration” world tour, which will begin July 15 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
