Hunter Biden bought and used burner phone applications from the Apple app store from 2014 through 2018, records on a copy of his abandoned laptop obtained by the Washington Examiner show.
The applications — Phoner, textPlus, and WePhone — gave him the ability to generate new phone numbers capable of making calls and texting from his iPhones and iPads, said Konstantinos “Gus” Dimitrelos, a former Secret Service agent and cyber forensics expert who examined a copy of Biden’s abandoned laptop for the Washington Examiner.
It’s unclear why the son of President Joe Biden purchased and used burner phone apps or whether and to what extent he did so to pursue business deals or his drug habit.
When asked to comment, an attorney for Hunter Biden demanded that the Washington Examiner provide a copy of it but refused to respond to any questions concerning its contents.

Dimitrelos found a spreadsheet on Hunter Biden’s hard drive created Jan. 21, 2019, containing records of his transactions in the Apple app store.
“The file contained over 2,000 purchases by Robert Hunter Biden and dozens of purchases of burner phone apps, which are used to generate alternate phone numbers capable of making calls and texting from a primary mobile device such as an iPhone or iPad,” Dimitrelos said.
Hunter Biden made multiple purchases with each of the burner phone applications. Item descriptions for the purchases include “Unlimited Mexico Calls,” “Unlimited Calling US & Canada,” and “Second Phone Number Yearly.”
Dimitrelos cross-referenced the records in the spreadsheet with emailed receipts on the hard drive. He also found pictures Hunter Biden took of the credit cards he used to buy the burner phone applications. Metadata attached to the pictures show they were taken with an iPhone X, which Hunter Biden had linked to his iCloud account.
Hunter Biden used the Phoner application at least once to record a call between him and Hallie Biden, the widow of his brother, Beau Biden. Hunter Biden and Hallie Biden began a romantic relationship shortly after Beau Biden’s death in 2015.
In the eight-minute phone call, which Hunter Biden recorded via the Phoner application toward the end of their relationship on Aug. 14, 2018, he yelled at her for hanging up on him during a previous call and begged her to “name one thing you love about me.”

Hallie Biden instead told Hunter Biden to check himself into a rehab center. “Just f****** go to a rehab,” she told him, adding that his addiction was damaging his relationship with his children. “You have to f****** get yourself to rehab and build a relationship again.”
Hunter Biden’s overseas business dealings have come under great scrutiny, including his lucrative perch on the Ukrainian energy giant Burisma when his father was vice president.
Text message records on the hard drive show Hunter Biden texted with his father regularly using his primary phone number. These texts were mostly personal in nature — to complain about his relationship with Hallie Biden, for example.
The texts also show Joe Biden offered his son financial help at least four times between November 2018 and March 2019.
“Dad can you please cash app me $2000,” Hunter Biden asked March 3, 2019. Joe Biden responded, “Yes what do I do to do it? Is there a thing called cash app.”
“Please send the money I have literally no options tomorrow but to go sleep in my car until my money is released,” Hunter Biden texted his father later that day.

Records also indicate the younger Biden and various companies he was connected to received millions of dollars from Chinese businessmen, particularly in connection to an energy company called CEFC, which has since gone out of business. Hunter Biden held a 10% stake also in an investment firm called BHR Partners, which is linked to the Chinese government. BHR has invested in controversial Chinese companies sanctioned by the United States.
