EXCLUSIVE — President Donald Trump is expected make his first post-midterm trip on Friday to NASA’s inaugural MAX POWER Aerospace Expo, White House officials tell the Washington Examiner.

Trump has made revitalizing NASA and expanding Space Force a top focus of his second term in the White House. Last year, the president set a goal of returning American astronauts to the moon by the time he leaves office in 2029.

The expo itself, hosted in and around the Kennedy Space Center from Friday through Sunday, will “showcase the newest aircraft, autonomous vehicles, technologies, and more defining the future of air and space.”

“NASA will display its quiet supersonic X-59 plane, and agency partners will showcase Moon rovers, spacecraft, and more,” NASA added in a statement last week. “The expo also is a culmination of the agency’s recent Inspiration Tour, which included numerous flyovers to highlight NASA’s fleet of aircraft.”

A White House official confirmed to the Washington Examiner Wednesday morning that the president “would attend NASA Cape Week at John F. Kennedy Space Center,” located on Merritt Island off the coast of Cape Canaveral on Friday. Flight advisories for the Palm Beach area, distributed to pilots and airlines earlier this week, suggest that Trump intends to spend the rest of the weekend at Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach, Florida.

The trip comes after Democrats romped nationwide in the midterm elections and came close to flipping the governorship and U.S. Senate seat in Florida.

The president spent Tuesday evening watching election results trickle in at the White House. Though Republican operatives predicted that the GOP would maintain control of the U.S. Senate and were bullish on limiting losses in the House of Representatives, Democrats went on to take sizable majorities in both chambers.

Trump’s comments throughout the night and early morning split between venting on social media about sub-par Republican candidates, unfavorable coverage from Fox News’s polling and pundits, and lamenting that the midterm losses stemmed from the fact that he, technically, wasn’t on the ballot in 2026.

Despite his critiques of Fox News, the president still called into the network’s election desk around midnight for a 15-minute interview, where he took a conciliatory tone and expressed a desire to work with his “friends” in the Democratic party on immigration reform and other issues.

“Believe it or not, I’ve already spoken to some of them,” he declared during the interview. “Two senators and three congressmen, actually. So it’s a total of five, and I have three waiting to call me.”

“They obviously want to talk, but I have the power of veto, and the power of veto is, as you know, it’s impervious,” Trump concluded.
