President Joe Biden mocked Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for blaming him for two fentanyl deaths that occurred under the Trump administration.
His remarks came at a House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference in Baltimore, in which he reflected on the party’s legislative victories and looked to the future.

“Isn’t she amazing,” he quipped to laughter. “She was very specific recently saying that a mom, a poor mother who lost two kids [to] fentanyl, that I killed her sons.
“Well, the interesting thing is that fentanyl they took came during the last administration,” he added with a slight chuckle.
Greene cited conservative activist Rebecca Kiessling’s recent testimony before the House Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday and claimed that Biden’s policies resulted in the deaths of Kiessling’s two sons, Caleb, 20, and Kyler, 18, in July 2020.
“Listen to this mother, who lost two children to fentanyl poisoning, tell the truth about both of her son’s murders because of the Biden administrations refusal to secure our border and stop the Cartels from murdering Americans everyday by Chinese fentanyl,” Greene tweeted Tuesday.
As Biden noted, those deaths took place under the Trump administration.
During his speech, in which he crowed about his domestic achievements and cast himself as a crusader against surging costs of living roiling working-class families, Biden also took time to mock Republicans for standing in his way.
“That’s why during the State of the Union, I was so pleased to see so many Republicans stand up when I asked them to join us in rejecting cuts to Social Security. I’ve been to a lot of State of Unions and never saw one like that. But they all stood up. The interesting thing is they won’t be able to forget — it’s all on camera,” he said.
Biden also singled out Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), whom he has cast as the poster child for alleged Republican plans to slash funding for Social Security and Medicare — something Scott and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) have disputed.
“And then there’s Sen. Rick Scott — the guy who’s been saying for years he wants to cut Social Security, Medicare, and now says, ‘Never mind,'” Biden needled. “He says he actually agrees this all along — he really didn’t mean what he been saying. Well, like I said, I believe in conversion. Maybe they found religion.”

In addition to boasting about achievements such as the Inflation Reduction Act, the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and more, Biden laid out several big-ticket agenda items going forward, including codifying Roe v. Wade, banning assault-style firearms, limiting gun magazines, and building upon his efforts to reduce drug prices.
“Republicans can help make a significant majority and some of these things. … It’s hard as hell, I acknowledge, but it’s there,” he said. “A little bit more Marjorie Taylor Greene and a few more — you’re gonna have a lot of Republicans running our way.”
