As gas prices hit record highs, Northern California drivers are paying almost $10 per gallon.
The national average for a gallon of gas rose three cents overnight to $4.85, marking AAA’s highest recorded average price. Yet drivers in Mendocino, California, have reported paying $9.63 per gallon for regular and as high as $9.94 for premium, according to Gas Buddy.
Mendocino, California, is located around 150 miles north of San Francisco.

California reached its highest average price for regular of $6.33 a gallon Sunday.
Economic woes, including rising gas prices, have compounded as the coronavirus pandemic dovetails with other world events, such as the war in Ukraine and a supply chain crisis.

Prices averaged $2.38 per gallon when President Joe Biden took office. The national gas price average is now roughly $4.848, according to AAA.
